現在ザ・ゾンビーズの音源はBIGBEATレーベルが発売権を所有しているようである。このCD-BOXは1997年に発売されて以来、ロングセラーを続けている。全曲丁寧なりマスターが行われており、一部の音源を除いては音質も最高だ。
disc1はDECCA時代の音源を収録。モノラル・ミックス中心である。disc2はCBS移籍後の音源。こちらはステレオ･ミックスが中心。disc3は未発表曲、リハーサル、リミックスを収録しており、このボックスの目玉のひとつである。disc4はBBC音源。過去にもBBC音源はレコード、CDでリリースされていたが、このボックスで初CD化の曲もある。また、正式レコーディングしていない曲も多く、彼らの生演奏が聞ける点でも貴重。しかし一部音質の悪いもの（おそらく当時エアチェックした音源を仕様）がありこの点が残念。
ブックレットも貴重な写真や、全ライブスケジュールなどが掲載されていて、資料としても貴重だ。10年以上前のリリースなので、絶版になる前に入手することを強くお勧めする。

| こちらは2002年にリリースされた2枚組CDで、DECCA音源のマスターテープをリミックスしたステレオ・ミックスが収録されている。一部楽器の追加も行われているようだが、違和感なく聞くことができる。マスターテープさえよい状態で残っていれば、こういったリミックスができるとは･･･。ローリング・ストーンズを筆頭にDECCA系のアーティストの曲はモノ・ミックスしか作られていないものが多いので、同様の手段でステレオ・ミックスを製作してほしいものである。上記のボックスとこの2枚組があれば、鬼に金棒である。 |
